3 Backwards Design Approach
Identify desired results – what should students know, understand and be able to do? What is worthy of understanding? Consider goals: Course performance objectives Department/Program outcomes Examine content standards (institutional, state, national Review curriculum expectations Instructors/students’ interests & expectations Getting to know students – starting the course with image-based introductions.

4 Backwards Design Approach
Determine Acceptable Evidence -- How will we know if students have achieved the desired results and met the standards? What will we accept as evidence of student understanding and proficiency? Consider a range of assessment methods – informal and formal Q&A, daily feedback, presentations, tests, videos Reports, quizzes, projects, team work, games, badges Consider how student understanding will be measured before designing the specific units and lessons. Well-written outcomes lead directly to their assessments

5 Backwards Design Approach
1. Plan learning experiences and instruction - What knowledge and skills will students need to perform effectively and achieve desired results?

6 Technology Matrix

7 Does the Technology… Support the learning objectives and competencies?
