1 Take a handout Take out your notebook Please be silent
Begin your quiz (use your notebook)

2 Earth System Interactions
Project

3 Kick start Take a packet Read through the packet
Highlight what we are doing, underline how we are doing it

4 Learning Outcome: I can understand the expectations of a long term project that will help me understand 6 different standards associated with Earth system interactions by organizing my thoughts using a power point or outline.

5 Major Understandings 2.1 e:
Rocks are composed of minerals. Only few rock-forming minerals make up most of the rocks of Earth. Minerals are identified on the basis of physical properties such as streak, hardness, and reaction to acid. 2.2h: The rock cycle m odel shows how types of rock material may be transformed from one type of rock to another. 2.2g: Rocks are classified according to their method of formation. The three classes of rocks are sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous. Most rocks show characteristics that provide clues to their formation conditions.

6 Major Understandings cont.
The dynamic process the wear away Earth’s surface include weathering and erosion. 2.1i: Erosion is the transport of sediment. Gravity can act directly or through agents such as moving water, wind, and glaciers 2.1h: The process of weathering breaks down rocks to form sediment. Soil consists of sediment, organic material, water and air.

7 In one week: Each section would have been assigned a topic
Each pair of students would have completed an assigned a task Every section (8 students), would’ve came up with a method of presentation. A power point, A video- with handouts, or A poster board

8 My Responsibility: Do my part Communicate with my peers Stay organize
Revise and edit my work consistently Be ready to present on time Always save my work onto my USB, or google drive doc.

9 Group Roles Group supervisors Researchers Designers Assistants
You will report to Ms. Garrido at the end of class to speak about what was accomplished and your next steps Researchers You will be responsible for researching the information that needs to be put into the presentation Designers You will be responsible for the display of your information Assistants You will be responsible for making the quiz for your topic

10 Group Supervisors In your notebook, record what happens each period For example: Date: _______ Topic: _______ Partner # __: worked on… Partner #__: worked on… Today we accomplished… Tomorrow we will… Supervisors, you must take part in all other roles as well

11 Researchers In your notebooks keep record of what you researched:
Today we found out… We would like to know if… we need to know if… In order for this to happen… this must happen… First…second…last…. I found this information from…

12 Designers Make sure to communicate with all group members
You must what you created to your group members or at least the group supervisor after every class Consider all ideas from your group Help the researchers with the information Design a template to use for your presentation

13 Assistants Communicate with your group members Consider all ideas
Design a template for your quiz Include questions from all levels of D.O.K Be consistent with standard and learning outcome

14 Everyone starts as a researcher
To be successful, everyone must: Do research Understand their topic Communicate with each other Do their parts Ask questions Stay on task

15 Day 1 Present the expectations Topics Roles

16 Day 2 Meet with supervisors Meet with researchers Meet with designers
Meet with assistants

17 Day 3 Meet with Sedimentary Meet with Metamorphic Meet with Igneous
Meet with weathering/erosion

18 Day 4 Go over rubric Quizzes should be done Final handout:

19 Day 4 cont. Handout completed: Group Members: Assigned Topic:
Learning Outcome: Method of presentation: Copy of power point, boards due, videos are ed Quiz Questions:

20 Day 5 Presentations sedimentary and metamorphic
Presentations igneous and weathering and erosion Note-taking handouts

21 Basic Template Kick start: Learning outcome: Key Terms: Activity:

22 Exit ticket Fill out the Rock project Form 1 per station

23 Topic: ______________
Group Member Role Supervisor Researcher Designer Assistant

24 Homework Chapter 2, Lesson 2 (pages 26-28) write and answer questions 1-6.

25 Start: You will be assigned a topic
You will decide how to present/ teach your topic to your class This is important because you will be working with this method (power point, poster, video) for the next few days. Create a Learning Outcome associated with the appropriate standard

26 Day 1

27 Kickstart Take out your computer on your way in (keep it closed)
Take out your notebook Take out your project handouts Wait for instructions

28 Learning Outcome: I can collect information about the rock cycle by using different sources that will help me collect information about my topic. Write your learning outcome In your notebook.

29 Key Terms The Rock Cycle: An interaction among earth systems that consists of processes that change rocks from one form to another. Metamorphic rocks Igneous rocks Sedimentary rocks Weathering Erosion

30 Task You will use the following links to help you collect information about your topic.

31 Exit ticket What is your topic? What is your role? K W L
