3 The Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive
Member States adopt legislation to implement; phased implementation, fully in force by November 2016 National Action Plans should be adopted with measurable objectives, targets, measures and timetables Commission Reports

4 Sustainable Use of Pesticides – Main Actions
The National Action Plans are the basis of Member State controls, but there is some diversity in their completeness and coverage Member States should improve their plans significantly to address the shortcomings and establish more precise and measurable targets

Good practice examples but diverse implementation (Member States and sectors) Need clearly defined and assessable criteria Appropriate enforcement taken if needed

6 EU Platform on Animal Welfare
24 January 2017: Commission Decision establishing the Platform 75 members, 2 meetings per year Animal Transport sub-group already established Welfare of pigs sub-group to be launched soon

7 The first EU Reference Centre for Animal Welfare
Focus on welfare of pigs Coordinated assistance with national centres Scientific and technical studies Animal welfare indicators and assessment methods Conducting courses for officials Dissemination of research findings and innovations

THE VALUE OF THE WASTED FOOD IS ESTIMATED AT 143 BILLION EUR
