Types of insulators
Type
Used for:
pin
Voltages up to 33 kV and mounted on the cross arm on the pole.
suspension
Voltages greater than 33 kV and the wires are suspended from a 'string’ of glass disks.
strain
Low voltage lines less than 11 kV and it supports the horizontal load.
shackle
Low voltage distribution lines and they can be directly fixed to the pole with a bolt or to the cross arm.
