They wanted to start building the Bay Bridge in 1938 , but World War II started so they had to wait. They actually started in The construction took 3 ½ years.

The bridge is 186 ft. high which is also 56.7meters high. Because of the height, the small gaurd rails, the closeness of the spans, and the high winds, this is one of the scariest bridges in the world.
