2. Jeans for Genes day
Alperton Community School will be taking part in this year’s Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 22 September. All students and staff are invited to wear blue jean trousers along with their usual school uniform on Friday 22 September. We’d like everyone to take part so please come into school on the day wearing your jeans and with a £1 donation to your form tutor during PSHE. 1 in 25 children has a genetic disorder that makes their life very difficult. That’s like one in every class. By wearing jeans and donating, we will change the lives of these children.
Mr Rayleigh (ARA), mathematics department, will be organising the event and the collection of money so should you have any queries please speak to him.

3. Genetic disorders affect one in 25 children in the UK…
Ryan, aged 16 has CYSTIC FIBROSIS
Conner, aged 15, has DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY
Pamela, aged 19, has SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA

4. Life can be very difficult for these children…
Some children look different and are often stared at and teased
Some children have to take extra care to live a normal life every day
Some children find it hard to communicate, understand and learn

Nursing and care services
Respite or a well-deserved holiday
