Think about accounts you have heard, seen or read about September 11, the movie theater shootings in Aurora, the school shootings in Connecticut, the Boston Marathon bombings, or another national tragedy. How does the disaster in Pompeii compare? Some things to think about may be the causes, the reactions of the people who were there on the scene, survivor stories, etc. What does this comparison tell us about human nature during a crisis? How do you think you may react in a similar crises?
