1 American College Testing
ACT American College Testing

2 ACT Standardized test used for College Admissions in the United States
Published by the ACT a non profit organization founded in Iowa City Iowa in 1959 It was introduced in 1959 by Everett Franklin Lindquist as a competitor of the SAT Its purpose is to assess college readiness

3 ACT ACT assessment measures high school students' general educational development and their capability to complete college-level work with the multiple choice tests covering four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The ACT is offered seven times a year in the United States and its territories: in September, October, December, February, April, June, and July. (In New York State, the test is not offered in February and July.) In other locations, the ACT is offered five times a year: in September, October, December, April, and June. It is time based, allotting shorter time per question than the SAT

4 ACT Students with verifiable disabilities, including physical and learning disabilities, are eligible to take the test with accommodations. The standard time increase for students requiring additional time due to disabilities is 50%. Currently the ACT is pen and paper, but there are plans for making it computer based. They are moving into a computer adaptive ACT, meaning as a person performs on the test, the questions will get easier or harder

5 ACT Validity: The ACT is regarded as largely curriculum based, more closely paralleling coursework taken at school, with questions perceived to be considerably more straightforward. As such, it is thought that students who are hard workers and study effectively score better on the ACT exam, even if they don’t have great natural abilities.
