Tea Act (1773) All tea business goes to the British East India Tea Company Not intended to raise money for British govt. Bail out East India Tea Company Taxes would have been cheaper, the colonists were fed up with England making decisions for them. “It’s a matter of principle”

Intolerable Acts Punishment for Boston Tea Party
Also called Coercive Acts Set of harsh laws Closed Boston Harbor Banned town meetings restricted colonists’ civil rights including trial by jury Quartering Act– required colonists to provide living quarters and supplies for British troops How mad do you think this made colonist? We know this pissed them off because they would later outlaw quartering in the 3rd Amendment to the Constitution

Met to demand that rights be restored after Intolerable Acts, or they would continue to boycott all British goods Shows strong united colonial front against British Wrote letter to king, swore to meet again

British find colonists stockpiling weapons, so they attack colonists. Were British justified in attacking?
