Engage your students with new approaches for your classroom Project-Based Approaches helps teachers improve their understanding and application of project-based learning in their classrooms. This course is for teachers who are new to project-based approaches – and teachers who are experienced with project-based approaches find it equally helpful.

Course Structure Module 1: Projects Overview Each Module has 3 to 6 Lessons Module 2: Project Design Lessons include 3 types of activities 1. E-learning: learn concepts in interactive tutorials Module 3: Assessment 2. Action Planning: apply concepts to one’s own classroom Module 4: Project Planning 3. Facilitated Discussion: share ideas and give feedback on action plans Module 5: Guiding Learning Module 1: Projects Overview In this module, participants explore the principles of project-based learning. Module 2: Project Design In this module, participants begin thinking about designing their own projects. Module 3: Assessment Assessment is integral to a project-based approach. In this module, participants learn how to integrate assessment throughout a project. Module 4: Project Planning Planning the day-to-day work of a project is just as important as planning the big picture. In this module, participants learn how to plan project details to keep a project organised, using project timelines and implementation plans. Module 5: Guiding Learning In this module, participants focus on improving instruction throughout projects. Learn innovative approaches to assessment of 21st century skills Assessment in 21st Century Classrooms is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at assessment that meets the needs of 21st century teaching and learning. In this course, teachers see how assessment strategies can benefit their teaching practices and their students’ learning. They learn how to plan, develop, and manage student-centered assessment. Action planning exercises offer opportunities to apply the assessment concepts.

Explore effective rubrics to assess 21st century skills. Module 3: Assessment Methods Look at how assessment methods can be used for various assessment purposes as part of regular classroom activities. Help students become more proficient digital collaborators Collaboration in the Digital Classroom is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at collaboration with a focus on online collaborative tools. In this course, teachers see how collaboration helps students develop 21st century thinking skills, deepen content understanding, and prepare them for the global world. Teachers learn how to plan and manage collaboration activities that integrate online collaborative tools increasingly part of our globally connected workplaces. They follow two teachers as they implement collaborative experiences in their classrooms. The course offers opportunities to apply the collaboration concepts with action planning exercises.

Module 1: Collaborative Classrooms Module 1 introduces collaboration and how it benefits 21st century classrooms. This module provides examples of collaborative classrooms and introduces ways to implement collaboration activities in your classroom with and without technology. Module 2: A Framework for Digital Collaboration Module 2 introduces the Digital Collaboration Framework. This Collaboration Framework will help you strategically integrate collaboration into your instruction and ensure collaboration is purposeful, meaningful, and effective. Module 3: Tools of Collaboration Module 3 explores online tools that support collaboration in the classroom. You will use project scenarios that integrate collaborative tools to help you locate and integrate online tools for your projects. You will also learn strategies for using new tools now and in the future. Module 4: Collaboration Strategies Module 4 explores how technology tools familiar to many students can help students move from being online communicators to being skilled digital collaborators. This module also examines ways you can communicate to students and parents how your classroom will enforce ethical, safe, and legal online practices. Module 5: Collaborative Classroom Management Thorough planning and preparation is the best guarantee for successful collaboration in the classroom. In Module 5, you will learn how to promote safe use of technology, manage and support collaborators and their technological tools, and handle the unexpected challenges inherent in collaborative projects. Some things you will want to note include the following: (Presenter should note on slide) Each course has an “orientation” A megaphone icon will appear on the screen on some pages – indicating that this specific slide has audio Rollovers: These allow the participants to “dig deeper” for more learning and examples. Navigation Tools are provided at the bottom of the screen and course materials are at the top. Presenter should highlight for the participants in this webinar learning. Navigation – course progress, menus to allow skipping to where needed, audio/replay, and next/back and pause (Use pointer) Course materials – Action notebook with checklist after completion of offline activities, Resources that include all downloadable files, glossary of terms/definitions, and even a Help area and about this course. A facilitated experience builds professional learning communities through group discussions and sharing of ideas in action plans. Facilitation content is flexible: you can modify or add your own activities. Course format is a local design decision. Length of a facilitated course is flexible and determined by your program needs. Sample schedules are provided to follow or adapt. Upon completion, Intel asks that you report the number of teachers you trained.
