Also known as Alternative or Enthusiastic assessment . It is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.

Prepares students to work on performance tasks.
Teachers describe standards that will be used to evaluate performance.
Allows students to judge the own work.
