17 5. Government Reforms -commission government members (commissions) -Decide local laws and best interest of community/ county/ town. ( basically rebuild ENTIRE city) -manager government : city council makes laws, manager runs city -better control over public interests

Voting Reforms -Direct primaries: people would vote for who they wanted to run as the parties candidate, instead of Political Machines -initiatives bill on the ballot, originated by people, not law makers -referendums people voting on the bill -recall enabling voters to remove elected officials from office, before end of term

19 6. Voting Reforms -direct election of Senators 17th amendment -Robert La Follette wanted to regulate big Businesses, “fighting Bob”, reform Governor led the way in regulating big businesses
