What is a gpa? GPA stands for Grade Point Average and it converts your number grades to a 4.0 scale. A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1

Why is my gpa important? To be accepted to your chosen college
To receive scholarship money To receive certain grants (money for college) To have early dismissal as a senior To play sports For academic, CTE, or distinguished endorsements

What is a qpa? A QPA stands for Quality Points Average. The QPA takes into account the rigor (or difficulty) of a class and gives extra points for your grades in that class. Our QPA is on a 5.5 scale. We have 3 different difficulty levels for accelerated classes: Honors, Accelerated, and Advanced Placement/Dual Credit weight.

Scale for an honors class = add .5 to the qpa
B=3.5 C=2.5 D=1.5

Scale for an accelerated class = Add 1 point to qpa
B=4 C=3 D=2

Scale for an ap/dc class = add 1
Scale for an ap/dc class = add 1.5 to qpa – required for academic endorsement diploma A=5.5 B=4.5 C=3.5 D=2.5

Why is qpa important? Rank is determined by QPA
Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Historian are the top 3 students with the highest QPA’s. Honors graduate QPA Special Honors graduate 4.5 and above QPA and below will graduate alphabetically

What is my gpa? Look at your 1st semester average for your credit bearing classes: 8th grade math, MS Studies, World Geography, Tech, and PE. Convert your average to the 4.0 scale, then divide by the number of classes. Example: Math -72 MS Studies-85 Tech-92

Traditional diploma with academic endorsement-26 credits

Math -Foundations to Alg/Algebra -Semester Algebra -Algebra II (can choose Honors) Geometry (can choose Honors) English-English 9 - English 9 Honors Social Studies- Humanities (½ credit) Science -Foundation to Biology -Biology -Honors Biology Required Electives -Health (½ credit) -Fine Arts (1 Credit) -Technology and/or PE if not earned in 8th
