5 Berlin, Germany Berlin was divided into 4 Sectors: French, British, US, and Soviet Berlin itself was inside the “Iron Curtain” (keeps people in, information out)

6 The Iron Curtain Phrase was coined by Winston Churchill, who warned of Stalin’s ambitious plans to take over Europe. Many people still saw Russia as a valuable ally, and thought Churchill was being too harsh. Churchill (16 August 1945) told British parliament, "it is not impossible that tragedy on a prodigious scale is unfolding itself behind the iron curtain which at the moment divides Europe in twain” Lasted from
