Assessments and Grading The goal of assessment is to support learning. The goal of grading is to evaluate learning. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT Formative assessment is about feedback. It is practice for learning. Formative assessments refer to a student’s understanding of what they can do well and what they can improve. Formative assessments guide the next steps in the learning process. Formative assessments will count as 25% of a student’s quarterly report card grade.

Assessments Continued
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT Summative assessment provides evidence of a student’s mastery of skills. Summative assessments will count as 75% of a student’s quarterly report card grade.
