1 The Fruit of the Tree of the ‘Knowledge of Good & Evil’
Class 3 God can Bring Good out of Evil July 4, 2018

2 Summary of Class 2 Sin is missing the mark set by God.
It is a mistake to value the present more than the future. God instituted chastening often called “my service,” in order to correct those He loved. Sin is not pretty and every person who has lived has been affected by the sin of Adam and Eve. We need to utterly detest sin. The antidote for sin involves forgiveness and reconciliation.

3 The Fruit of the Tree ‘Knowledge of Good & Evil’
Class 1 – The Garden of Eden Class 2 – The Enormity of Sin Class 3 – God can Bring Good out of Evil Class 4 – Mankind’s Response to Evil Class 5 – Our Inclination to Evil Class 6 – Overcome Evil with Good

4 God is the Potter: We are the Clay
Romans 9:20-21 KJV 20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

5 God Creates Good & Evil Isaiah 45:5-7 KJV
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

6 “God is the Author of Evil, but not of Sin”
“The introduction of sin into the world necessitated the constitution of things as they were laid in the beginning. If there had been no sin there would have been no “enmity” between God and man; and consequently no antagonism by which to educe good out of evil. Sin and evil are as cause and effect. God is the author of evil, but not of sin; for the evil is the punishment of sin.” John Thomas; Elpis Israel; Pg. 126

7 “Whom the LORD loveth he correcteth”
Proverbs 3:11-12 KJV 11  My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: 12  For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

8 “When thou art rebuked of Him”
Hebrews 12:5-6 KJV 5  And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6  For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

9 He chastens all of His sons
Hebrews 12:7-8 KJV 7  If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8  But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

10 Grief produces Peace Hebrews 12:9-11 KJV
9  Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10  For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11  Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

11 A number of the Promises of God depend on His ability to be able to bring ‘good’ out of ‘evil’!

12 Promises of God rooted in Evil “To Escape the corruption of the world”
2 Peter 1:3-4 KJV 3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

13 Promises of God rooted in Evil “All things work together for Good”
Romans 8:28 KJV 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

14 Promises of God rooted in Evil “also make a way of escape”
1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV 13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

15 Promises of God rooted in Evil “treasure in earthen vessels”
2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV 7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

16 Promises of God rooted in Evil “The inward man is renewed”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 KJV 16  For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

17 Promises of God rooted in Evil “If we suffer … we shall reign”
2 Timothy 2:11-13 KJV 11  It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13  If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

18 God creates evil to bring out good but not necessarily with the same people.

19 Evil that Good May Come Capital Punishment
Deuteronomy 17:12-13 KJV 12 And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. 13 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.

20 Evil that Good May Come “When thy judgments are in the earth”
Isaiah 26:9-10 KJV 9 … when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. 10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.

21 Evil that Good may Come ‘Great fear came upon the Ecclesia’
Acts 5:10-11 KJV 10  Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. 11  And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

22 Evil that Good May Come “Beat him with the rod ... Deliver his soul”
Proverbs 23:13-14 KJV 13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

23 Evil that Good may Come “Delivered unto Satan”
1 Corinthians 5:5 KJV 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

24 Proverbs 25:4 KJV 4  Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

25 God can bring Good out of Evil The Analogy of Purifying Metal
Isaiah 1:25 KJV 25  And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

27 God can bring Good out of Evil The Analogy of Purifying Metal
Ezekiel 22:18-20 KJV 18  Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver. 19  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20  As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

28 God can bring Good out of Evil The Analogy of Purifying Metal
Ezekiel 22:21-22 KJV 21  Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof. 22  As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

29 God can bring Good out of Evil The Analogy of Purifying Metal
Malachi 3:2-4 KJV 2  But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: 3  And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. 4  Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

30 God can Bring Good from Evil Through the Work of His Son
Ephesians 2:12-13 KJV 12  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

31 God can bring Good out of Evil By the Process of Pruning
John 15:1-2 KJV 1  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2  Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

32 God can Bring Good from Evil Through Metamorphosis
Romans 12:2 KJV 2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
