QSK19 Oil Pan Fillet Change
Kathryn McCarthy 5/20/2016 Cummins Confidential
2
Reason for change The changes being made to the oil pan are a result of oil pan cracking issues. A previous change to the tooling process significantly increased the stress at a certain region of the oil pan, which was causing failures. Cummins Confidentiall
3
Description of Change The change to the oil pan includes restoring the corner fillet radii to what it was prior to the 2013 casting tooling revision and increasing a fillet radii on the outside of the pan rail from ½” to 1” to further reduce stress at the failure region. Insert Data Classification

Change #1 – Sidewall Fillet Radii Increase
Fillet radius at the top of the oil pan side walls will be increased from 0.5” to 1” Width of flat section on the outside of the pan rail changed from 1.44” to 0.935” Cummins Confidential
