Directions: This fun, interactive game is a great way to get all students practicing. For this game, each student has their own score card where they show their work and the answers they choose. Each character in the game is in one of the boxes, so students’ work can be quickly checked regardless of the order questions are presented in the game. How to play- Open the presentation to slide 5 in Presentation Mode. This is the main game board. After each question the presentation will return to this screen when you click on the back button. Choose a student to a) choose the character for the next question or b) if you have an interactive whiteboard, students can tap their choice (or gently throw a soft ball onto the screen) to reveal the next question. Clicking on the character will bring up the question. Each student answers the question on their score card. Each slide contains a point value. After students have responded, click on the presentation again and the answer will appear. If a student gets the answer correct, they add their points to the column on the right side to be totaled at the end of the game. All students answer every question, and each student keeps track of his/her own points. Click the “Back” button to return to the game board and choose the next character/question. The questions that have already been seen will disappear from the game board. When the game is finished, collecting student score cards can serve as a formative assessment. To start the game over within PowerPoint, hit “escape”, and then return to slide 5 in presentation mode. All characters should again be visible. The student didn’t apply the distributive property correctly. Both terms inside the parentheses should have been multiplied by -1. The correct answer is -3y – 7
