Grand Lodge of Manitoba Grand Master’s Leadership Development Program

2
Welcome! 11/28/2018
3
What you will need to know?
* 07/16/96 What you will need to know? We need a Leadership training program? What do new members say they want? How do we close the knowing /doing gap? What is the action plan? What is Training the Trainer? When & where, will the Training be held? What is the “21 Laws” course? 11/28/2018 *
4
Why the Leadership Training program?
11/28/2018
5
Is the District the place that it should be?
Does your district “enroll” its members? Does your district know what its job is? Who is your “membership”? Where are they? If everything is ok, then where is everyone? What should we do? 11/28/2018
6
What is the culture of your District?
Does it invite differences? Does it welcome initiative, or penalize it? Is there a place for everyone? Who is responsible for the future? Are your assets utilized to their fullest? Are you active in your community? What is your current context? 11/28/2018
7
What should I be doing? Membership Development is your duty?
Membership Satisfaction is your duty? Membership Retention is your duty? All of this can be described as Enrolling the member. 11/28/2018
8
We lose far to many! Up to 85% of new members will be gone in 5 years
We have created a “revolving door” to membership The answer lies in enrollment. What does it take to become enrolled? How can the Lodge enroll its members? 11/28/2018
9
Enrollment? First impressions are lasting
Good impressions last a while, bad impressions last longer. Does the district give the member satisfaction? Does the experience instill pride, and enrollment? 11/28/2018
10
What new members say they want!
Fellowship Friendship Role with the Family Role with the Community An opportunity to Lead and make a difference. 11/28/2018
11
The Knowing Doing Gap 11/28/2018
12
What causes the Gap? Knowing what to do is not enough.
When talk substitutes for action. When memory is a substitute for thinking When Fear prevents acting on knowledge When measurement obstructs good judgment. 11/28/2018
13
How do we close the gap? Why before How.
Knowing comes from doing and teaching others how Action counts more than elegant plans and concepts There is no doing without mistakes, how does the leadership deal with them? 11/28/2018
14
What does it take? It takes Leadership!
The effective leader of an organization gets elected by those in his organization based upon his ability to enroll them as followers. 11/28/2018
15
