2. Why I chose this topic?
I wanted something interesting to me as a future career
I have always been interested in fashion design
Also, I wanted to see if I would want to pursue a career in fashion design

3. Researching Coco Chanel
I wanted a topic that interested me.
Coco Chanel is an inspiration to me in fashion.
I chose to argue that Coco Chanel is the most influential person in fashion.
Researching and writing my paper was a lengthy process, but it was interesting.

4. Bill Colvard
Went to college at F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology)
Worked in New York fashion for over 20 years
Owns his couture dress studio in downtown Elkin where he designs beautiful one-of-a kind dresses

5. Beginning my Dress
First, I had to sketch out designs for a dress and select one.
Next, I made an outline of my dress on a mannequin using ribbon.
This allowed me to make adjustments of the design.
I had to adjust the neckline and the straps of the dress so it would lay to me better.

6. Making the Pattern
The next in pattern making is making a cloth pattern from tracing the ribbon on the mannequin.
After tracing the pattern onto the cloth, I cut it out and then made notches and darts
Then I traced the cloth pattern onto the paper pattern where I again marked the darts and notches

7. The Sample Bodice
After I used the cloth pattern to make a paper pattern, I made a sample bodice.
This was important because it showed us if there were any adjustments that I needed to make to the dress.

8. Cutting out the material
Next, I used the paper pattern to cut out the pattern in my material where I again made my darts and notches
I then cut out the interfacing to make the band sturdier and ironed it to the band.
I also ripped the material on the grain to make sure that the skirt of the dress would straight and even.

9. Gathering the Bodice
I then pinned the lining of the entire bodice to the mannequin and began to gather the material over the bodice.
I began with the band, next the bodice then the neckline.
I had to pin all the pleats down, then take them off the mannequin and hand sew them down

10. Sewing the Bodice Together
Finally after finishing the gathering, it was time to sew it together
Then, I sewed the lining for the bodice.
Next, I sewed the lining to the bodice.

11. Sewing the Skirt First, the lining of the skirt was sewn.
Then, I sewed the overlay together.
Next, I sewed a stay stitch in both of them, then I gather the skirt so it will match the bodice.

12. The last steps The bodice and skirt are sewn together.
After sewing the dress together, the zipper is sewn in
The final step is to hem the dress, and finally the dress is complete.
