1 Adhesion procedure for CAD/CAM resin crown bonding: Reduction of bond strengths due to artificial saliva contamination  Asuka Kawaguchi-Uemura, Atsushi Mine, Mariko Matsumoto, Yuko Tajiri, Mami Higashi, Tomoshige Kabetani, Ryosuke Hagino, Dai Imai, Takuya Minamino, Jiro Miura, Hirofumi Yatani  Journal of Prosthodontic Research  Volume 62, Issue 2, Pages (April 2018) DOI: /j.jpor Copyright © 2017 Japan Prosthodontic Society Terms and Conditions

2 Fig. 1 Experimental procedure. (1) Wet-polishing with 400 grit silicon carbide paper. (2) Each group was further divided into four groups: positive control group (P-Co), negative control group (N-Co), sandblasting group (Sb) and acid treatment group (AT). All blocks were sandblasted using Adabrader for 20s and air dried for 10s. All specimens were then silanized for 10s. (3) Surface analysis: SEM observation, 3D laser analysis and contact angle measurement. (4) μTBS values (n=24 beams/group) were measured immediately after cutting blocks into beams. All remaining beams were stored in water. After 1 month, 3 months and 6 months of water storage, μTBS was measured. Fractured surfaces after μTBS measurement were analyzed. 3 Fig. 2 SEM observation of the adherend surface. a, b: P-Co group. Alumina particles were observed on the block surface. c, d: N-Co group. An artificial saliva contamination layer was observed on the surface. e, f: Sb group. g, h: AT group. P-Co: positive control group, N-Co: negative control group, Sb: sandblasting group, AT: acid treatment group. 4 Fig. 3 3D laser analysis. 3D laser microscope images show that differences in surface topography are dependent on surface roughness. P-Co: positive control group, N-Co: negative control group, Sb: sandblasting group, AT: acid treatment group. P-Co: positive control group, N-Co: negative control group, Sb: sandblasting group, AT: acid treatment group, 0M: initial, 1M: 1 month of water storage, 3M: 3 months of water storage, 6M: 6 months of water storage.
