Instructional Coaching Training for PROTOCOLS AEC Conference Oct. 2017 Coaches & admin. receive training on observing teachers & providing feedback Learned TWO things: Develop a two-pronged approach to microcredentialing: academic and socio-emotional Provide focused, bite-sized feedback after observations NAS staff choice in to trainings: MAP Data Restorative Practices Trauma-Informed Education Post-Secondary Readiness Motivational Interviewing Accountability Culturally Responsive Teaching Interacting Learning Sept. 2017 A dozen staff attend ASCD to learn about rigor & trauma-informed strategies and more Robert Marzano, an educational leader w/50 years of experience, tells us to use RUBRICS & PROTOCOLS for microcredentialing ASCD Conference in Denver, CO Introduce Microcredentialing to Staff & Develop RUBRICS August 2017 Begin building rubrics for NAS Best Practices w/staff Instructional coaches & admin. start using RUBRIC of Best Practices to observe & provide feedback to teachers RUBRICS go through a few iterations until a user-friendly version is developed July 2017 Based on ideas from the tech world & merit badges in Girl Scouts—complete tasks/demonstrate skills to earn a credential in an area. Micros are already in place w/Google classroom, BloomBoard in Depts. of Ed. in TN & DE. Research into Microcredentialing NAS Leadership Team Nails down Best Practices Summer 2017 MPI/SIOP (learning objective) Activating Background Knowledge Vocabulary First Visuals for Sheltered Support Form.
