8th Math Ms. Bennett What topics will we cover? Late / Incomplete Work Real Numbers Solving Equations and Inequalities Proportions and Bivariate Data Transformations 2D Figures 3D Figures Functions and Slope Financial Literacy * My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in but proficiency is not demonstrated, the assignment will be returned to the student and the work must be completed / redone until proficiency is achieved. The assignment will not receive a grade until proficiency is earned. *All work must be shown to receive credit for the assignment. Late assignments will be graded as follows: 1st day late – 10 points off 2nd day late – 20 points off 3rd day late – 30 points off 4th day late – No credit is given after the 3rd day Absentee Policy * Remember absences can affect your grades when you are absent. You are missing instruction that’s difficult to completely makeup. * It is the student’s responsibility to check the class website to find any assignments missed return the completed work within the allotted time allowed. * If a test/quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the test/quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Ten-10-zero rule The first and last ten minutes of every class, students should not be allowed to leave the classroom. Their will be no student movement during 7th period. Plagiarism/Cheating Cell Phones /Devices Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be given a ZERO for the assignment. BYOD will ONLY be used in class when it is in the instruction. Otherwise your devices should be put on silent and not seen. If you are distracting the learning of others, there will be consequences for not abiding by the BYOD policies. * The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating / plagiarism is suspected. * The student will be given a zero for that particular test or assignment. Consequences Restroom/Hall breaks Students are given a restroom/hall pass to use up to three (3) times per nine weeks. Once the pass has been use 3 times the student will NOT be allowed to go to the restroom or leave the classroom without consequences. Lost passes will not be replaced. If the pass is not used at all during the semester, extra credit will be given.
