Our Ecological Footprint
Team Riddell-Snakes Alexis Ayala Jonathan Ceballos William Martinez-Cruz Date: 12/14/15
2
Introduction My Environmental Impact: It’s All About Me(Us)
Age Group: All members of the team are 22 years of age Responsibilities: Our responsibilities is to attend work every day, to be successful college students, and be great citizens for our community Occupations: We are all college students and employed Activities that use energy: We use our laptops every day for school work, playing video game systems and cooking food Assets that require energy: All three of us have cars for transportation, cellular devices, and computers Beliefs: We should all be eco-friendly to not completely destroy the planet Behaviors: We like to recycle, not try to rely much on a car so we walk more Consequences: By driving to a nearby store we affect ourselves physically and polluting the planet at the same time
3
Personal Uses of Natural Resources
Energy: Reside in houses, with an average of four people per household. 1 pet on average. Average of 4 cars per household, both personal and family cars included. Water: We purchase drinking water rather than buying filters for our homes. Water our plants, lawns, and gardens. On average we shower for about 15 minutes. Food: On a daily basis we consume about 2200 calories. 3 meals per day, with snacks in between. Purchased from supermarkets.
4
Energy Use,Water, Food Impacts:
Reducing funds that stay in the city; more than 50% of your funds spent a grocery store, go towards the actual corporation. Tending to needs that include: school, work, family, and friends; require that we use our cars, travel in planes etc. Higher bills by consuming more, making us work more.
5
Personal Footprint, Consumption, Impact
Total Energy Consumption JC-950.0 WMC-105.0 AA-580.0 Total consumption of Natural gas amongst group on average: 12.1 Total Carbon Consumption: JC WMC AA
6
Comparison Group average: 545
Average Electricity use per person in Napa: 443kWh Average CO2 per person in Napa: 46 Average CO2 per person, per capita in US: 20 tons
7
Changes As a group we can work on reducing the amount of energy we use
We can reduce the carbon projected by our cars by carpooling or walking to our destinations Shut off the faucets when not in use
8
Proposal for Personal Change
-Changes we make to lessen our personal impact is to walk more often or ride a bike to close destinations instead of driving and use electronic devices less to stop charging them constantly -Also, reduce the amount of water we use like taking less time showering
9
Conclusion Using a lot of our energy sources has a huge negative impact on life and the planet, which we are destroying at an exponential rate. Also, we need to make changes to save the planet by reducing the amount of energy resources we use daily. With concerted conservation, recycling and judicious use of energy we can slowly help the planet earth revive; therefore, we can make this kind of impact by heavily promoting the necessary duties to have a healthy planet like filtering water, or have eco-friendly cars.
