1 Double Exposures And brief history of photography
By Laura Grimsley For my presentation I will be exporing brief history of photography, and double exposures

2 Film Photography First documented photograph was by Joseph Niépce (1765 – 1833) in 1826 Photography began to be practiced in the late 1830’s. There are many different techniques and practices within film photography. Photography has been around for over 150 years, and the first photograph was documented in This photograph was taken by joeseph from then top window of his workshop. The photograph its selfwas exposed for 8 hours, and then was processed with the ‘heliography’ technique, which joeseph invented himself. Photography became more popular from this point onwards, and was practiced by more artists in the late 1830’s. Since photography became more acessable, the more artists began to experiment within photography Joseph Niepce, ( ) ‘View from the Window at Le Gras’ (1826)

5 Creative practices Many different types of experimentations within photography. 7 About Double Exposures

8 Examples…of what we will be doing

9 Practice Assignment First you will do a “practice” picture with these images. These picture can be found on the Data Drive under DVCII, double exposure project. There are also 2 tutorials you need to watch that will guide you through the project. These links are also on my webpage. Once you have finished this practice you can start working on your double exposure self-portrait!

10 Final double exposure image
You will be using Photoshop to create your double exposure self-portrait. Yes you have to do a picture of yourself! Choose a photo of yourself that you took in class that has good contrast with light and shadow. Choose a landscape that YOU like! It can be a natural landscape or a cityscape. Pick something that represents YOU! Make sure it is a large image with high resolution. Have fun be creative!
