Previous round African participation was very weak and declining 1985 – 1994: 44 countries 1995 – 2004: 41 countries Never conducted a census : 7 countries Current round: Since 2005: so far 18 countries Use of advanced technology: Scanning, satellite images Emphasis is made in the post conflict countries Slide 4
