Current Electricity
2
Go With the Flow Static electricity is a buildup of electrical charge.
Current electricity is an electrical charge that flows through a path called a circuit. Circuit- a path that electricity can move through Remember, flow and current are synonyms.
3
Open and Closed Electrical current can only flow through a closed circuit because there are no gaps in the path. Electrical current cannot flow through an open circuit because the path is incomplete. Switch- opens and closes circuits All current electricity begins with a power source.

Series Circuit In a series circuit, electricity can only flow one way.
All objects are hooked up on one circuit. For example, Christmas lights. If one goes out, the circuit is opened, and all the lights go out.
6
Parallel Circuit In a parallel circuit, there are multiple paths in which current can flow. So, one object can go out and the others remain powered. For example, one light can go out and the others remain lit. So, finish this statement: The lights in our classroom are on a ___________ circuit. Why?
