Daily Tips to Help Your Family Eat Better Make it Fun! Let kids pick out a new fruit or veggie to try each week and learn to cook it in a healthy way. Cook at Home. When you cook at home, you have more control over ingredients and portion sizes. Make Snack Time Count! A handful of nuts, whole or cut fruit, and pre-chopped or no-chop veggies are all simple, savvy snack time selections! Break Up With Sneaky Salt! Did you know that about 90% of kids eat too much sodium? Use salt-free seasoning and prepare lower-sodium versions of the “salty six” (pizza, burritos, and soup, to name a few!) Be a Good Role Model!
