God’s Gift: Reconciled through Christ
None have EVER been (nor will ever be) righteous before God by human perfection. Rom. 3:23 Still, nearly all religions have man working his way to some sort of salvation (nirvana, paradise, etc.) The Bible reveals that we stand as condemned sinners before God. Rom. 6:23 In contrast is God’s gift: eternal life.

The love of God… Frees us from sin and eternal condemnation.
Controls us to live for God, not unto ourselves. 2 Cor. 5:14-15 Allows us to be the “righteousness of God in Christ”. 2 Cor. 5:21

So… How Can God’s Grace Be “Received in Vain”? By no longer believing how we’re saved. This was a problem with some Christians at Corinth. 1 Cor. 15:1-4 This was a problem with many other Christians. Gal. 5:4

So… How Can God’s Grace Be “Received in Vain”? By no longer living according to the purpose of God’s grace. 2 Cor. 6:1 This (2 Cor. 6:1) is the practical warning for believers who were not being controlled by their love for Christ. Cf. 2 Cor. 5:14-15

The Point of This Sermon
To reflect on our faith/walk in Christ. “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.” (2 Corinthians 13:5, NKJV)
