Math Topic 3 test was given today. The results will be sent home on a yellow slip of paper in your child’s binder tomorrow. Tomorrow we will begin Topic 4, Understanding Subtraction. Your child will be bringing home a short page of Math homework a few nights a week. It will be what we have already covered in class and should only take them about 5 minutes to complete. Last year for my class fall party, we had a “Mad Science” day. It was a huge success! I want to do the same thing this year. Instead of an hour long “party”, we did science experiments all day, followed by special treats at the end of the day. Yesterday, as a class, we decided that we should all come dressed as “Mad Scientist” on this day. This would be very easy. A white shirt for a “lab coat” and safety goggles. I have already printed off “scientist” badges for everyone. More info to follow. Weekly Teacher Tip We have been focusing on CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words and Sight Word List A. We are also working on onset and rime with short vowels. This is adding a beginning sound to a vowel consonant ending, such as adding consonants to the chunk “ed”. This is something that you could be practicing at home nightly when you are doing your reading homework.
