The AVAYA range of UPS Contact Centre & Data Centre Voice & Data
Communication Manager Voice & Data Contact Centre & Data Centre 20kVA 8-15kVA This is the range of Avaya UPSs which are SAP coded and available through ASD. They range in size from: - “Entry-level” 1U UPS to go with IP Office or the i5 applications - “Core” UPS which ships as default with the S8X00 CM servers - Larger UPSs which are suitable for applications anything from a few media gateways all the way through to small datacentre applications. The products are all available globally -multinational customers can have the same product in all locations. All these UPSs are available with installation and maintenance packages to suit the customer’s needs. We can also provide multivendor support for other UPSs. A much greater range of power protection and power distribution equipment is available through project design in partnership with Eaton. If you uncover opportunities early enough in the facility design stages, engage with Eaton as soon as possible. Applications for larger datacenters could be worth upwards of $250k so are well worth asking your customer about! IP Office & I5 6kVA 1-3kVA VA

Why an Avaya UPS? Unified Communications
Alarming integration into CM, Expert Systems & IM Suite Integration into all other BMS standards & protocols Ships with all communications cards & power cables for the Avaya app. Examples: Power fails - you know instantly how much more battery you have Server locks - remotely cycle the socket on PDU to restart server Old batteries - predict point of failure and proactively replace In the modern communications environment, as everyone moves to “Unified Communications” it is more and more important the the infrastructure that supports your applications is visible and manageable across the network. Unlike in an IT of facilities environment, a voice/communications department expects detailed information about their equipment, quickly and easily. Most facilities UPSs are monitored at a relatively basic level, with “on/off” alarms being sent into a building management system somewhere in the depths of a building. By contrast, the Avaya UPS provides the voice team (and users where appropriate) with timely and detailed information about many variables, such as time remaining on battery, input power quality or major and minor system alarms and cautions. Importantly this information is sent through existing reporting mechanisms such as the Communication Manager console, or Expert Systems – so the users don’t need a separate management console just to monitor power. As we try and compress timelines in the Unified Communications world, the ability of the Avaya UPS to integrate tightly with the Avaya reporting system is an exceptional value add. At a glance status through the Avaya reporting platforms also gives Avaya the ability to perform to tight SLAs and improve first time fixes where needed. Some examples of the benefits of this are [refer to examples on slide]

Why an Avaya UPS? Product
Adds 2-5% to your average order value – with very little effort! SAP Coded, available through ASD, SAP Global coverage, global solution Support Dedicated website with configurators & sales tools: Services One-stop-shop for maintenance & service responsibility Selling an Avaya UPS is easy – the pre-sales group can configure a UPS very quickly through ASD or the dedicated web configurator. Just make sure you include a UPS with every quote. All UPSs are stocked in the EDC (European Distribution Centre) and ship on the same truck as the other Avaya equipment. If you need help, again it’s easy! You can check out the dedicated website or alternatively there is a dedicated Eaton waiting to take your call. Their contact information is on the website. They have staff available that will help with designs or even come to customer meetings with you to help with the sales process. Integration of the UPS with the Avaya application is a major benefit. More detail is on the next slide, but it is important to note that the Avaya UPS is the only UPS in the market which is tested & approved to alarm through CM, Expert Systems and IM Suite by default. The UPS comes with all the necessary ports and cables to connect it up out of the box. Wrap-around services are also available on every UPS to match the Avaya maintenance offers. Services include installation, maintenance and health checks on older UPSs. And importantly, wherever you are in the world, the same UPS is available to you.

Already have a facilities UPS?
The solution: Install an Avaya UPS for the voice application, even if there is already a large room UPS: Facilities UPS Avaya UPS Runtime 15 minutes, sometimes with generator 2 to 8 hours. Monitoring Monitored by facilities, if at all. Typically the voice personnel do not have easy access to these alarms. Alarms are very simple in nature (e.g. power, no power) Alarming is automatically transferred through CM server, Expert Systems or IM. Additional features like eNotify, LanSafe & PowerVision are also available for more detailed alarming. Device Prioritization All systems supported equally through single UPS output. Avaya UPS provides scheduled and prioritised shutdown of non-essential equipment to save battery for essential items. Problems in the building A problem on the main UPS effects all systems. Problems in a comms room affect entire branch circuit. A dedicated Avaya UPS ensures reliable power for the Avaya applications, 100% of the time, even if the facilities UPS fails. These days a lot of RFPs do not call for a UPS to go with the switch. Even so, it is often worth offering the Avaya UPS for the reasons shown on the slide. Many of Avaya’s top customers have standardised on 4-8 hours of battery backup in addition to the building UPS and generators, because downtime on voice applications is simply not acceptable. Having a facilities UPS is like having 3rd party insurance. Having the Avaya UPS as well is like having comprehensive insurance. Accidents happen. The voice UPSs come from a different school of thought than facilities UPSs. The voice UPSSs are designed to integrate closely with the voice application, to provide meaningful power quality information on a real-time basis, often through the core server itself. It is much more important to voice applications to have high visibility of power quality and system availability. There are many myths about connecting a small (voice) UPS to a large (facilities) UPS. We are aware of the theory behind these objections and none of them have ever been witnessed in over 15 years experience with the Avaya UPS. It is OK to connect a small UPS to a large one using our design considerations Connecting a small Avaya UPS to the larger room UPS? It’s no problem. Our design considerations will allow for this. Alternatively you can use a separate mains circuit for the Avaya UPS

New in 2008* – Intelligent Power Distribution
Ready to connect out of the box, these PDU strips are the perfect way of distributing power within your rack. They can be monitored and controlled over the network giving you ultimate control over your power. Feature Benefit Remote power on/off individual sockets over IP Reboot hung servers without sending engineers, auto power down over weekends, turn off devices when not needed for security reasons. Scheduled power on/off of individual sockets Remote monitoring of current, voltage and temperature per socket Understand & manage your power consumption, allocate billing between departments, trend analysis of power usage, auto power-down on over temperature to protect equipment. Virtual grouping of outlets with different user permissions Gives different users/departments IP access only to their section of the PDU so they can only cycle their own equipment. 256bit AES security, HTTPS, IPMI & SMASH CLI Ultra secure PDU solution and server integration. With the on-set of the green datacenter and the increasing need for visibility and control over your infrastructure, it is ever more important to have your finger on the pulse with power. These PDUs allow you to achieve these goals. All PDUs come with country-specific input/output connections ready to connect using the cords that come with the other Avaya equipment. Industry leading technology allows you to monitor and control your power down to the socket level allowing you to: Remotely turn on and off each individual socket: -> If a server hangs you can remotely do a hard re-start and avoid sending a tech. Especially useful for remote sites! -> Turn off modems when not required to prevent unauthorised access -> Auto power down equipment on a Friday night and auto power-up on a Monday morning to conserve electricity (green movement) Remotely monitor power consumption and temperature per socket: -> Allocate costs to departments or customers according to how much power they use -> Provide trend analysis of power consumption, understand server efficiency and throttle power consumption to different times of the day to reduce electricity costs. Provide secure virtual grouping of outlets with different user permissions -> Allocate different users or departments access to only their part of the PDU strip Ultra high 256bit encryption and server integration through SMASH CLI -> Rest assured your network is safe! *SAP codes available August. Until then these are available through “one time buy” process
