6-8 Grade Resource English Language Arts

6th Grade Grading Policies
Grade Distribution 80% Mastery (i.e. tests, quizzes…) 20% Practice (i.e. classwork) Homework Nightly expectation: Math: 20 minutes Language Acquisition: 30 minutes Sciences: 10 minutes Individuals and Societies: As necessary

7th and 8th Grade Grading Policies
Each content area and teacher will explain their policies. I will always be available to help find answers to questions you may have regarding any of your other class expectations and assignments. We will use our advisory class period on Wednesdays to keep up to date with assignments and grades.

Mrs. Dixon’s Grading policies
I will accept late work for no loss of points. You have the opportunity to redo any work you are not pleased with. If you do not finish work in class you will be assigned homework club. Most assignments will be finished in class if you are using your time wisely and asking for help. 80% for assessments 20% for participation and class activities

Adopted Language and Literature Curriculum
Pearson myPerspectives Unit Flow Unit Introduction Whole Class Learning Small Group Learning Independent Learning Novels tied to unit themes Each student will have access to online tools with their grade level account. Students will interact with literature using laptops and class discussions. Students will also focus on individual IEP goals using SRA reading program and Step Up To Writing

6th Grade T-Shirt Every student is a member of our 6th grade team-family; it is our goal to make sure each student has a 6th grade shirt to represent the team $10 cost Due by 8/15 Order forms available from and to be turned in to math teachers.
