What is “probability”? The observed probability of my planula survival was 1/9.Since the predicted probability was 2/9, my coral planula did worse than predicted and out of 18 trials, it’d survived only 2 times. The 2nd time we’d done the experiment, my coral planula, once again, had an observed probability of planula survival of 2/9. Probability is a way to measure the chances that something will occur in relation to the possible alternatives.

Variance and Standard Deviation
Two values that are used in statistics to describe how far away your data are from the mean are Variance and Standard Deviation. Below are the lengths(in Centimeters) for different Sea cigars. 6.7 7.3 7.5 9.4 9.8 11.2 12.5 13.1 17 The mean of this particular data set was 10.2 centimeters. The variance of this data set was 10.8. The standard deviation away from my mean is (10.8) is 3.3. Two standard deviations away from our mean is 6.6.

A Theoretical Distribution Curve (TDC) is used in statistics, because it serves as a standard with which actual distributions can be compared. The normal distribution curve is a theoretical or ideal picture of a distribution based upon a random sampling.

Chi-Square Test _______________________ Predicted
The Chi-Square Test can be used to see if there are any significant differences between data sites or sources. The formula for Chi-Square is: Σ(observed-predicted)2 _______________________ Predicted
10
The T-Test The T-test equation is an equation used to calculate the t-statistic, which is designed to test whether there is a significant difference between the means of two independent samples, those of your (1) treatment and (2) control groups. Question: Should the Fearless Fishers have rejected the null hypothesis? Yes, the fearless fishers should have rejected the null hypothesis because their T-Statistic value as calculated to be 3.175,which is GREATER than the critical value of from the T-Statistic table at 14 degrees of freedom and at the P-Value of 0.05.
