3 Our Mission The mission of the Driver Training Program Office is to provide safer drivers on Ohio’s roadways through regulations and best practices in correlation with the education and administration of a variety of driver training programs and instructors.

4 Statistics Spans all programs – schools can offer more than one type of program 263 licensed enterprises 659 satellite locations 5 abbreviated adult online 9 Class D online Students through the programs – total 122,803 (2017) Adult remedial – 17,007 Class D – 93,845 (includes the online) Juvenile – 1,681 CDL – 3,368 Advanced JDIP – 223 Online – 20,272 Abbreviated adult - 1,860 Abbreviated adult online – 6,127 Mature - 373

5 What We Do Focus on education, administration, enforcement (program reviews/compliance, open preparedness, investigations, administrative actions) Curriculum Continuing education Educational workshops - basic instructor, training manager, adult coordinators, new owners Providing resources for parents, teens, external customers, stakeholders Rules Review online programs License all instructors License all locations Track licensees, certificates Educating the general public (multiple means)

Outline mandatory content Provide for flexibility in teaching methods, videos, materials, resources, etc. Review cycle is 5 years Legislation Changes with safe driving practices Updates with research, statistics, etc. Class D update currently (24 hours of class/online & 8 hours of btw) Driver Training collaborates with stakeholders Other SME or area specific groups
