Hildegard Hildegard of Bingen was a German nun in the 1100s.
wrote extensively on health care. In early childhood she had visions, and was presented by her family to become a nun at the age of eight.

Laura Bassi Laura Bassi was an Italian scientist and the first woman professor to be appointed at a European university. Bassi developed an interest in science, and was encouraged by her family and friends, including Cardinal Prospero Lambertini (a future pope), to seek an academic post.
