SUMMER LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Overview The Summer Leadership Academy is designed to provide building principals with the training necessary to have overall school improvement with increased student achievement. The Academy will be differentiated to align the leader behaviors to the needs of the school based on a school audit/environmental scan and leader assessment. The Academy will serve as the foundation for subsequent leadership development for principals and assistant principals throughout the school year. St. Louis Public Schools 11/28/2018

Background A team consisting of Central Office personnel, building level leaders, and Local 44 members was created to serve as the Summer Leadership Academy Committee. Partnerships have been obtained with local university and business leaders to provide human, technical and/or financial support. This will be funded through business donations and the Wallace Foundation Grant. Please note: The bullet points should be brief and include highlights. Current Situation The Summer Leadership Academy Committee and the superintendent identified agreed upon processes and replicable leader behaviors to be taught at the Academy. The Leadership Performance Inventory has been identified as the needs assessment to be completed by principals. Research has been conducted to identify best practices in principal professional development . Washington University and St. Louis University have been secured for the training sites.
