3 DEFINING A NEW PROJECT Select New Project from Project menu to create a new project File.

4 Enter 4 characters Project code
Enter 4 characters Project code. Build-Master later creates files for various floors by appending floor codes to it . Enter no. of levels, Default storey height and Project title then click ok.

5 A line sketch showing the floor levels ,floor names and Default storey height appears on the screen.

6 Select Modify Project from Project menu to change the storey height for Plinth level.

7 Select Plinth from the list of floors and click on Modify.

8 Change Storey height to desired value and click OK.

9 Again the line sketch with modified height for the Plinth floor is displayed.

11 INPUT PLAN Now choose Select Floor from the floor menu to enter the Plan.

12 Select ABCD-TYP from the list of floors.

13 Select Input Plan from the Floor menu to draw the Plan for the selected floor.

14 A graphical editor as shown here will be displayed.

15 Select Mesh option from the Draw menu.

16 Mesh Data dialog box will appear.
The spacing in X and Y directions are not same, hence select New Random from the Spacing Type and click on Random Mesh.

17 The dialog box for entering X grid values will appear now.
X-grids are Lines parallel to Y-axis and cutting X axis. Y grids are Lines parallel to X axis and cutting Y axis.

18 Enter the X values by using Add Row button.
No. of X values is equal to no. of X grids.

19 After entering values for all X grids, click on Save and then OK.

20 Now Dialog box for entering Y values will appear.

21 Similarly enter Y values using Add Row button.
After entering all values for Y grids click on Save and then OK.

22 A mesh of X and Y grid lines will appear on the screen.

23 Now select Erase from the Edit menu to carve the desired plan by deleting unwanted lines.

24 Now select Lines to be deleted using the Pick Box.

26 A bigger or smaller view can be seen by using Zoom option with the right click of the mouse.

27 Draw a parallel line to the selected line using Offset Line option.

29 Now draw the desired lines using Draw--> line option.

30 Thus Plan is carved as desired.
Now the floor plan is a line sketch with Beam positions according to the Architectural drawing.

31 Now select Support-->Column from the Draw menu to place the columns at respective positions.

32 Select column positions using the Pick box.

34 Now the plan is complete, with beam positions and Column positions according to the Architectural Drawing. Buildmaster detects the Beams and Slabs from this line sketch drawn.

35 Select MakeData option from the main menu to convert graphical sketch into numeric data.

36 Dialog box for Default data will appear.Click Ok.

37 No. of beams,slabs ,columns and Nodes are generated by the Program.

38 The drawing with Beam nos, slab nos and column nos is displayed.

39 This completes the input for the typical floor Plan
This completes the input for the typical floor Plan. Select Close from the File menu. The 3-D Space frame Model is generated from this single line plan.

40 The Workspace and Run Log can be switched off by clicking on those options from the View menu. A bigger screen for editing the Plan can be displayed using this option.

43 EDIT PLAN DATA Select Edit Plan Data from the Floor menu.

52 The Beam size can be selected from the list of Standard Sections by clicking on Std.list button. Select the beam size then click on Assign.

Select the Slab which is sunken. Then enter the sunk Depth and click on Change.

62 Sunken slabs are defined by showing a square around the Slab numbers.

63 Again Select Beam Data from the Edit menu to enter Sunk depth for the mid-landing beam for the Staircase.

64 Select the Beam, enter the sunk depth then click on Change.

66 Select Thk Load option from Slab Data to change the thickness and Load for the Staircase slab.

67 Select the slab, enter values as shown and click on Change.

68 Now select Wall Types from the Edit menu.

69 Select Wall Type, Enter Wall Data for selected type then use Add button to add more wall types.

315 To redesign the Beam any option from the Edit menu can be selected and data can be modified.
Changes made interactively are stored again in Database and Schedule.

317 Beam schedule is displayed with group nos on the left side and all the groups with the parameters on the right side.

318 Beams with identical design parameters are automatically grouped when designed by Buildmaster.
A particular beam can be moved manually by drag and drop,I.e. by clicking on the Beam name and dragging it to another group.

319 The beams can be regrouped by selecting Regroup button.
Percentage variations can be changed here to make lesser no. of groups in the schedule.

320 Change Percentage variation to 30%.
Program will find the beam with largest size and maximum steel. Out of the remaining beams,whosoever size and steel is upto 30% less, those beams will be grouped with that beam. Then again the biggest beam from the remaining beams found out and same procedure is repeated.
