3 OUR gym and pool is a CO-ED learning environment !
Get you ready and accountable for the HS and the real world The boys will be working with the girls -and- The girls will be working with the boys

4 “Do you have your agenda?”
Your agenda must be with you at all times or NO PASS Bell system-Students are expected to be in locker room before bell rings. If you are late you will need a signed agenda pass. Leave cell phone in your hall locker for the day! Your gym locker will be assigned to you the next time you have Physical Education. You will not need to buy a lock. Bring your gym clothes and sneakers in next class to keep in your locker. 6th,7th,8th-Bring locker information with you.

5 What supplies do I need for class?
Sneakers (safe sneakers with backs) T-shirt (different from what you wore to school) Shorts (different from what you wore to school) Deodorant Swim gear (Girls-1 piece suit or 2 piece suit with t-shirt, plastic bag, towel, water shoes) Boys-swim shorts, towel Outdoor Clothes (You are responsible for bringing weather appropriate clothes) Extra Socks

6 Pioneer Middle School Physical Education Grading Policy
How do I earn my grade in PE class? Pioneer Middle School Physical Education Grading Policy Every quarter you will EARN your grade: PIE-Participation, Interaction, and Effort 70% Physical Performance (Skill mastery) % Knowledge of the Subject area % (Written assessment) Everyday you can earn 10 POINTS for your overall grade!

7 Physical Education DAILY Grading Rubric PIE TOTAL DAILY POINTS- 10
EFFORT: (4points) 4-Fully commits to individual group, fitness or skill building activities with energy and enthusiasm 3- Usually… 2-On few occasions… 1-Does not engage… SAFETY (2 points) (Environmental and personal hygiene) 2- Is aware of safety implication of their surroundings and personal well-being and will take appropriate actions 0-does not demonstrate an awareness of the safety implications to themselves or others physically and or emotionally COOPERATION (2 points) 2-willingly and enthusiastically works with others (teacher included) toward common goals (sportsmanship) 1-Sometimes… 0-Fails to work with others… PREPARATION(2 points) 2- Changed into dress and footwear appropriate for the activity and weather 0- Student is unprepared; does not have appropriate clothing or sneakers to suit the current weather conditions or activity (swim suit/towel included).

8 What if I have a medical? Parent notes: Submit parent notes to teacher prior to class if an emergency occurs. You must obtain a doctor’s note to be legally excused thereafter. If you do not feel well: You still must report to your PE teacher! Medicals: Medical notes go to the nurse in the morning. In order to participate in gym again you must obtain a release note from your doctor

Daily Class Procedure Before bell ring enter locker room, change, use bathroom, drinks, and communicate any issues to teacher (or have signed agenda) Do not leave locker room without teacher approval Warm up, lesson, activity or game Enter locker room, change, and line up at end door. No one is to leave before bell rings. See bulletin boards for upcoming units, grading policy, rules, student of the month, etc… This is our motto…”Be Respectful, Responsible and Ready”

10 Physical Education Rules
Wear Proper Attire! Think weather and different activities FINGERTIP SHORTS No Gum or Candy in Class! NO PUT DOWNS! KEEP VALUABLES AND CLOTHES LOCKED IN LOCKERS! We are not responsible for missing property. Foul language is prohibited At no time does a student leave the locker room, pool, or gym without permission from the P.E. Instructor. NO Jewelry in class! (Keep jewelry in plastic containers) Post earrings only!

11 Sport Participation Rules
EVERYONE IS EQUAL Athletes who do not attend a minimum of 5 class periods a day are unable to participate in practice or game OR If you do not participate in PE- You are NOT ALLOWED to practice or participate in a game that day Physical Education and Sports have two different purposes. Both are beneficial to EVERYONE!
