2. THE PROBLEM
Finding good new music is difficult if you don't know what you're looking for.
There are many existing ways to find and share music, but the market is extremely fragmented.

3. THE SOLUTION Tuned is a social network for music.
Users share music via links or uploading, and can follow others to receive a feed of music suggestions.

8. TASK 1: SEARCHING FOR MUSIC
Sheena started her exploration of black metal by searching for the genre.
Search is an intrinsic part of music discovery, and it complements the auto-suggestion features of Tuned.

9. TASK 2: FOLLOWING A USER
Rather than searching for new music on her own, Sheena followed Jamie to get her music suggestions.
Following users provides a source of music suggestions in Tuned.

10. TASK 3: SHARING A SONG
After her introduction to the world of black metal, Sheena discovered a new song on her own and shared it with Jamie.
When a Tuned user shares a song, all of the user's followers receive the song.

Early sketches of the Tuned interface were heavily focused on playing and organizing music.

13. AFTER CONTEXTUAL INQUIRY
Our contextual inquiry showed us that we needed to focus on what makes Tuned different.
Our next sketches were heavily focused around music sharing.

14. AFTER TASK ANALYSIS
Once we decided on our final tasks, we created a mobile interface centered around those tasks.
This interface (with only a few modifications) was later used as a lo-fi paper prototype.

16. AFTER USABILITY TESTING
Testing the lo-fi prototype revealed some issues, which we further refined the sketches to resolve.
Most of the changes were to the Upload page.

17. UPLOAD PAGE MODIFICATIONS
The original Upload page was confusing and did not have many affordances. It was rearranged and made significantly clearer.

18. THE PROTOTYPE
The current medium-fidelity prototype was built using Axure.
It allows the user to perform all 3 core tasks.

Our prototype is simple, but demonstrates all of Tuned's core features.
