Climate change research across FTA and CGIAR Research Programs
2
Climate change as a structuring issue
In itself, impacts of climate change (now) on the FTA systems we work on. Climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, and the importance of forests and trees. Impacts of CC policies on other objectives (example: land based mitigation and food security) CC forces to project systems in time and to consider the future: particularly important for R4D. >> Influences heavily the set of decisions linked to forests and trees, landscapes. >> Influences heavily FTA (not only FP5, but all other FPs)

Key objectives and questions
Where does CC-related research stand in CIFOR, and in relation to each of the CRPs? CC works seen against the prism of the specific roles of CRPs: Organizing, structuring, supporting linkages and integration of works. Generate International Public Goods (IPGs). Foster coherence of the set of bilateral works. Organizing partnerships (including for fundraising). >> CIFOR’s current experience and perspectives? >> How can CIFOR best position its current CC work, and envisage the development of its CC work across CRPs? >> What are our anticipations, and what could be improved? >> What are the main demands we anticipate (given the political / UNFCCC agenda, NDC implementation, agenda of donors and developing countries)?
