1 Research funding options for university
I’ve enjoyed all my A levels and think I want to study something linked to Science or Maths at uni. I’m worried about all of the debt though and that if I work whilst studying it’ll effect my grades. Research funding options for university Research paid degree apprenticeships Book an appointment with a careers adviser

2 Research degree apprenticeships
I can get a student loan for my fees and up to £8,430 to live off each year. Some unis also offer bursaries which you don’t pay back. I’m still worried though because all those loans will leave me with at least £53,000 of debt. What should I do next? Research degree apprenticeships Find out about job opportunities whilst studying Research course options for university

3 Research course options for university
Paid degree apprenticeships vary a lot. There are lots of opportunities in Science, Maths and Engineering so it could be a good option. They can pay between £15,000 and £35,000 but you also study for free. What should I do next? Research course options for university Book an appointment with a careers adviser Start an application for a degree apprenticeship

4 Research funding for university
The careers adviser was really helpful and helped me weigh up the pros and cons of the different options. I’m still not sure what job I eventually like to do but have decided I would like to study a science subject at university. What should I do next? Research funding for university Research subject options Research degree apprenticeships

5 Visit a university open day
There are lots of course options linked to Physics and Maths. I think I’m more interested in doing something practical and Physics would include lab work. I could also do a joint degree in Physics and Maths. What should I do next? Visit a university open day Research degree apprenticeships Research pros and cons of uni

6 Ask for help from tutor with personal statement
I attended a university open day and think I’d like to apply for Physics as it’s more practical, and I might be able to apply for scholarships. I will need to write a personal statement and some unis might require an interview. What should I do next? Ask for help from tutor with personal statement Work on personal statement alone Use UCAS website for guidance on personal statement

7 Visit a university open day
I used ‘The Student Room’ to ask others about working whilst at uni and checked some different university websites. It looks like I could find casual work at the university which wouldn’t take up too much time or interrupt my studies. What should I do next? Visit a university open day Research degree apprenticeships Speak to a careers adviser

8 Speak to a careers adviser for help
I’ve started looking for degree apprenticeships to apply for but I don’t really know what I’m doing and I’m not sure I have all the skills required. What should I do? Speak to a careers adviser for help Visit a university open day Research pros and cons of uni

9 Apply for an apprenticeship instead
I have worked with my tutor to write and improve my personal statement. I’m confident it’s as strong an application as possible. What should I do next? Submit application Apply for an apprenticeship instead

10 Ask for help from tutor with personal statement
I had a go at working on my personal statement but I don’t really know what I’m doing and am not sure it’s good enough to get in. What should I do next? Ask for help from tutor with personal statement Use UCAS website for help

13 Start application alone
The careers adviser helped me describe my skills and experience using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) structure. They have helped me arrange some work experience at an engineering firm to boost my profile. What should I do next? Start application alone Ask tutor for help with application Start university application instead

14 Start university application instead
I started working on my application alone, and have used the STAR method to describe my skills and experience, I’m still not confident it’s good enough though. What should I do next? Ask for help from tutor Start university application instead

15 Start university application instead
My tutor has helped me write and improve my application for an apprenticeship. I’m confident I’ve explained my skills to the best of my ability. I may still need to attend a university and complete some online tests. What should I do next? Submit application Start university application instead
