In the latter part of 2013 and following a tender process the Isle of Wight Council appointed consultants to: Provide technical advice on what caused the landslide Advice whether other nearby locations were at risk Provide options for repair Provide guidance on costings and Partnership Funding

Three Basic options Do nothing
- Make safe and permanently exclude the public. 2. Rock revetment in front of landslide debris lobe - Approximate cost £1.5M - BCR 0.3 -IWC 92% contribution of £1.4M Rock revetment with wave wall upstand - Approximate cost £2.1M - BCR 2.4 - IWC 66% contribution of £1.4M

Isle of Wight Council received a petition with over 4,000 signatures asking for the path to be reinstated. IWC Executive considered a report which considered Do Nothing Mend and Make Do Proceed with major scheme Gave approval to the Mend and Make Do option, and following a tender process an island contractor commenced work.
