4 Project Overview Our customer, Donna, is a mentally handicapped young adult who is in a motorized wheelchair. She has speech disabilities so she needs a special way to communicate with people who don’t know her well. She currently uses a book full of pictures that she and the staff that helps her is familiar with. Last year, a SD project designed a touch screen audio device to help her communicate with new people.

5 One Page Summary

6 Customer Needs Picture based Long Battery life User friendly system
Low obstruction of vision – size requirements Left hand design No interface with wheel chair controls Female voice output Durable and robust – impact testing Upgradeability by staff Adequate product size Adequate product weight User friendly GUI The product system must be fast The product requires a custom enclosure The product must be colorful and girly Weather resistant Easily charged Easily be able to get out of the way of a customer Volume adjustment required Fixed to wheelchair Anti glare screen
