2 hydroCalc – What is it? Fancy spreadsheet tool
Calculates hydrostatic system performance Is not a selection tool! but makes it easier to see the results of your selections. Inputs: Pump, motor, final drive, pressure limit Engine speed, power, vehicle weight, rolling resistance 20 Operating points: pump & motor displacement Option to override Max Pressure, Engine HP & RPM Outputs: Estimated component and system performance Steady state operating conditions Numbers and Charts Suitable to send to customer

Performance estimate for hydrostatic system All pumps and motors connected in parallel Multiple pumps of same size Two sets of output drives can be specified (axles) Multiple motors of same size in each set Within a set, each motor has the same FD ratio, effic, radius. Common rolling resistance coefficient for all wheels Vehicle weight is evenly distributed over all wheels No wheel slip calculation Hydrostatic efficiencies: Change with operating conditions. Are average approximations of typical units Less accurate at Low: speed, pressure, displacement Opportunity for future enhancement

5 Enable Macros Open Excel file
Enable Macros (Security Warning-Options; Enable this content) ‘Save As’: ‘Macro-Enabled Workbook’ with new name Data entry areas have blue text, other cells are locked Spreadsheet automatically recalculates after every entry If you see a group of errors, click the red “Reset” button.

6 First Time Set-up If you have problems the first time you run hydroCalc: You may need to enable Automatic Calculations and Iterative Calculations Open ‘Office Button’, then ‘Excel Options’ at the bottom of the window. Select ‘Formulas’ on the left list and make settings shown below

Still being developed There are some bugs and idiosyncrasies Can be used for hydrostatic Propel or Non-Propel Also can show gearbox performance in a system Only give PDF printout to customers Do not send complete spreadsheet to customers! This is a great sales tool!
