Consider the Situation
When you are given a project with little instruction, where do you start? Vague Instructions/ little direction Feeling overwhelmed Shutting Down Story – This class project Relates to Revenue Dept – when you are a new auditor you have so much information that is thrown at you that you have little way to organize and process it. With a training program you will be given the tools on where to start and how to organize everything that has been put in front of you. This helps with eliminating the overwhelming feelings and lowering the possibility of shutting down - increasing the effectiveness of a new auditor and possible retention rates within the department.
3
Current Situation How we got here There is a current training program
Lack of desire to go through training program as auditor Current status quo allows this to continue No mentorship program No collaboration / team building / communication in general There is a current training program Could benefit from standardizing and mandatory With a revamped training program the department will have more efficient auditors, improved communication within the dept, improved morale (here again is a possibility to improve retention rates – thus improving overall work atmosphere and lowering overall training costs.) Our project – losing 1/3 of our group and then in second week we got Katelyn and Andrew – allowing us to disperse a workload over more people and allowing us to enjoy the project and get more out of it.

Overwhelming Feelings
Project Overload Overwhelming Feelings Crabby Feeling Angry Frustration Work suffers Overall inefficiency Feeling lost Confusion Our story – right before the deliverable we felt lost and we didn’t know if we were wasting time in what we were working on – we didn’t know if we were even headed in the right direction. Felt as if we would not have correct information to back up our premise. Rev dept - When you don’t know if you are doing audit correctly you don’t know where to start and want to or actually give up – causes audits to last longer or not get done at all. Unmotivated. Unhappy. Unproductive. What if this continues?
5
Consequences of Tension
Quitting Job Increasing workload – even if for a short time Decreased communication throughout department Decreases the resources of the auditors Shutting Down Hurts promotion/opportunities Work backup Extends audit completion dates Our story – not getting deliverable turned it. What if someone had left the group? Rev dept – as seen above.
6
Breaking the Tension Bubble
Brought in Deliverable showing past work to auditors/mock audits Went through expectations In office training, expectations, audit rules, forms, etc. Feedback on our deliverable In the field audits and auditor evaluations Our story – above Rev dept - above

Industry Practices Meetings include: Chance to clarify situations
Solution sharing Team building Address concerns Our story – Meeting with tammy, given past deliverables, talks with jim, jim’s comments on rough draft, researching states, realizing all of us were in the same position allowed us to work together and not against each other. Rev dept. – allows for streamlining of audits across the board, creates an atmosphere that promotes overall improvement and more of a team feeling – a man is not an island. More gets accomplished when the unit is a team and supportive of each other more gets accomplished. Training Programs include: Mock audits Time spent in field with senior Auditors Defines rules and expectations Clarifies laws
