DUH Education Council Duke Medicine Duke University Hospital New Sequential Compression devices and materials: Covidien SCD 700 Series Conversion Starting 11/18/14, the system wide conversion to the SCD 700 series machine and sleeves will occur at Duke Hospital. Roaming in-services will take place on 11/10 to educate staff to the new device and sleeves. Sleeves that are not soiled or coming from isolation should continue to be placed in containers for reprocessing. Containers will be picked up every week in most locations. If container becomes full sooner, call , or for a replacement. Clean pump & tubing with PDI Sani-Cloth AF3 New Tubing – TUBING NOT DISPOSABLE – TUBING STAYS WITH PUMP! New sleeves – Continue to reprocess sleeves Do not reprocess if soiled or from isolation Simple One Touch Operation Auto detect 1 or 2 sleeves attached Adjustable bed mount to fit any bed Don’t Throw Away! November 2014 Remember…….. There are 3 steps in the transfusion ordering process .The Product(s) must be prepared by Transfusion Services. Preparation may require orders for: Type and screen—to identify the patient’s compatibility issues Type and cross— to match the patient to the product Specific modifications or restrictions These are NOT orders to transfuse the Product 2. There must be an order to transfuse before requesting the product. The Order to Transfuse is located here on the hard copy of the order form OR The Order to Transfuse may also appear in CPOE 3. Ther must be verification of the product at the patient’s bedside
