Work Package 8 What to expect in 2018

Activities for 2018 In the ‘Communications Pipeline’, we have the following headline events: Policy: Engage the Arctic Centre with a view to a briefing in Brussels – spring/summer Proposal to invite the Blue-Action to the AtlantOS AAORA exchange ideas – April Climate modelling, innovation and services Brussels briefing – late (maybe) Business and public end-users: Mid-term climate-service roadshow – 2nd half of the year

Communicating science
This year we intend to: Make a real effort to reach out to WP 1-4, to better understand science & have a conversation about how to communicate it within, and outside of the project. Discuss and develop (within the consortium) an overarching vision for the project which people can be affiliated to Outline what the step changes in the science that will be achieved by Blue-Action Outline what is unique about Blue-Action

Transferring impact to ‘society
This year we intend to: Have a presence at industry specific events, as well as climate-service specific events, with a value proposition that will catch their attention. Increase the value proposition at events though finding synergies between Blue-Action and other research projects / climate-service initiatives. The objective is to facilitate face-to-face communication between providers and supply side, increasing depth of understanding between parties

Increasing BA value proposition
End-users Business National agencies Municipalities OASIS+ is a set of catastrophe modelling tools that together aim to offer a more transparent, robust and comprehensive approach for analyzing and pricing risk from extreme events.

Policy objectives This year we intend to:
Engage the Arctic Centre to inquire about a briefing in Brussels, Spring/Summer Proposal to invite Blue-Action to the AltantOS AAORA exchange of ideas in Ottowa, April Briefing in Brussels regarding climate modelling, innovation and climate-services (late-2018 or early-2019) The objective is to bring the ground-breaking science conducted by Blue-Action to the policy table in the spheres of Ocean and Arctic

The role of the Blue-Action communications group is to enhance YOUR ability to engage the beneficiaries of the project. We recognise that each of you have your own networks and communications tools however, but we are here to help. An aim of this year is to communicate better with you however, this needs to be a two-way dialogue Thus, we hope that you will also reach out to us when there is something that we can help you with, or when you have communication ideas Events you want to attend in a Blue-Action capacity
