How does it differ from hearing?
What is listening? Accurate Receiving How does it differ from hearing? Hearing only refers to the physical ability of your ears to pick up sound waves.

Listening is a four-step process:
Response Sensing what was said (do I hear it?) Interpreting what was meant (do I understand it?) Examining the statement (how does it relate to me?) Responding to it appropriately (what do I do now?)

To analyze (for example, in a class setting)
What are the purposes of interpersonal listening? To understand (can you explain that?) To provide support (I think it’s a great idea… keep it up) To analyze (for example, in a class setting)

What are some barriers to listening?
