A statement/question that grabs the attention of your audience.
It is the first thing that comes out of your mouth at the podium.

4. Motive
• Tell the audience what/how they will benefit from listening to your speech
• It is the job of the speaker to motivate or make the audience interested by showing why the subject is important to them

5. Assert
• The purpose of your speech

6. Preview
A sneak peek of the main points of the speech

7. Body
Point by Point support for what you are talking about in your speech

8. Action (Persuasive Speech ONLY)
Asks your audience to do something (whatever you were persuading them of) specific

9. Conclusion
Statement(s) that wraps up your ENTIRE speech

10. Visual Aids You are your best visual aid

11. Planning
Now, use space on your guided notes to brainstorm ideas for your speech. You will have computers tomorrow.
