The 7 wonders of the ancient world are •The Great Pyramid of Giza •The Hanging Gardens of Babylon •The Statue of Zeus at Olympia •The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus •The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus •The Colossus of Rhodes •The Lighthouse of Alexandria

The Hanging Gardens at Babylon
The Hanging Gardens at Babylon are located in Modern day Iraq and were built in around 600 b.c. While it was standing it was claimed to be 56 miles in length, 80 feet thick and 320 feet high. It was destroyed in the 2nd century B.C by an earthquake. After the earthquake when archeologists excavated it the walls only seemed to be 10 miles long.

The statue of Zeus at Olympia
The statue of Zeus was in Peloponnesus (modern day Greece.) It was made of ivory and gold plated plates on a wooden frame. IT was built in 432 B.C to shine to the god Zeus. It was about 40 feet tall but was destroyed in a fire in the 5th century A.D.

The temple of Artemis at Ephesus
The temple of Artemis was built In modern day Turkey in around 323 B.C. IT was made of mostly marble and used for the temple of the goddess Artemis. The 425 ft. temple was destroyed in 262 A.D by the Goths.

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The Mausoleum At Halicarnassus is located in Halicarnassus (Modern Bodrum, Turkey) It was Built Around 350 B.C. as a tomb for the City king Mausolus. It was 140 feet high and made of pure white marble. Its final destruction didn’t come until 1522 A.D.

The Colossus of Rhodes The Colossus of Rhodes is located on the island of Rhodes which is modern day Greece. It was built between BC to commemorate the war victory. It stood 110 ft high and was made of bronze plates with attached iron framework. Just 54 years after being built it was destroyed by an earthquake.

The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Lighthouse of Alexandria is located in Alexandria, Egypt to guide people and boats to its Harbor. It was 450ft tall and made of stone faced with white marble. It was built around BC and stood until 1303 AD when it was destroyed by an earthquake.

Last but not least the great pyramid of Giza
The great Pyramid of Giza is located in Giza, Egypt. It was built around 2560 BC and it still stands today. As the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu it is made of mostly limestone. A comparison that really shows how tall it is. You can see how small the people look.
